SMG is committed to nurturing up-and-coming talent and this year is sponsoring the Young Lions Storytelling Academy at Cannes. We’ll also have a number of rising stars on the ground, including Meredith Worrilow, MediaVest USA, a Young Media Lions Academy Delegate. Here’s her story.
1. Tell us more about your honor and how you were selected.
I was recommended by MediaVest’s leadership team for the Young Media Lions Academy. This program offers an amazing learning experience designed to engage, develop and inspire young people in today’s media industry.
2. What is your role at SMG and how long have you been here?
I’m the Consumer Intelligence Manager in MediaVest’s New York office. In my role, I utilize and conduct research to uncover key aspects of consumer behavior and disseminate findings across the agency. I’ve been with MediaVest 4 years!
3. What do you like most about your job and working in the media industry?
What keeps me excited about my position is that I continuously have the opportunity to find answers to complicated questions. To succeed in the media industry you need to be inquisitive and creative. That’s what I like best.
4. What will you be doing while in Cannes?
The Young Lions Media Academy has my days packed, so I will definitely be doing a lot of learning.
5. What do you most hope to learn while in Cannes?
I’m a researcher. I love learning—but I’m most excited to see really amazing thinking translated into creative work. I want to get under the hood and see how these ideas became realities.
6. How do you expect your experience in Cannes to help your work back home?
I think that my time in Cannes will provide me with a fresh perspective and new insights into the media industry.
